Downtime-wise, I read a lot more than I used to (big into Turgenev lately, but Hemingway is my all-time fave), spend too much time in coffee shops ( x Shot, the Gold Standard, and Cafe Ole are favorites), try to get back to nature as much as my lifestyle will permit (football in Clark Park, anyone?) and try to see a show here and there. I'm big into folk, punk, indie pop/rock, hardcore, hip-hop, things of that nature as far as music goes, but I'm open to most anything as long as it's not completely bereft of artistic merit (no Ke$has need apply). For what it's worth, I think my all-time favorite bands are The Smiths, Andrew Jackson Jihad, and Propagandhi... though if you asked me that again tomorrow, who knows what I'd say. I really like going out to eat when my budget supports it, which is less often than I'd like. As a result of said budget constraints, I've been brushing up on my cooking skills. I make a MEAN vegan omelette. As far as lifestyle goes, I try to keep it pretty clean. It's been quite some time since I drank/smoked/used any drug, really, and I feel good about that. It's a personal choice, nothing more, but it is something that I'm committed to maintaining, for a number of reasons. I'm also a strict vegan, something that is very close to my heart. I'm far from intolerant on the subjects, just know that both are important to me. I'm politiy active (though not as active as I once was) on the far-left scene, and though I don't exactly share the same beliefs as the Wooden Shoe anarchist-types, our ideals are more or less the same, specifiy regarding economic and environmental issues. I try to buy as much as I can from thrift/secondhand stores, and make sure to responsibly source the rest... which is to say, no Starbucks/Urban Outfitters/etc. for me.
